Governor Mike Sonko and Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa have eulogised the late Governor Joyce Laboso as a strong woman who sacrificed to make the lives of her people better.

In their condolence messages on Twitter, the leaders said that they will surely miss her after the sad development.

Laboso died on Monday while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital at the age of 59.

She died two weeks after she landed back to Kenya on July 14. She spent the time on a medical trip to India and the United Kingdom.

Wamalwa said that Laboso has left a big gap in women leadership.

“Gov Laboso ..You are a passionate democrat, the great champion who fought for the space of women in leadership that led to you becoming one of the first three female governors. My heartfelt condolences to your family & the people of @BometCounty036 @KenyaGovernors #RIPLaboso,” he tweeted.

On his part, Sonko said that she will be remembered because of her hard-working nature and good conduct in service delivery. 

He also said that his prayers are with the family during this difficult moment.

“Governor Laboso will forever be remembered as a hardworking and determined public servant who dedicated her time to the service of the Kenyan people and Bomet residents. At this moment of great national grief, my prayers are with her family. May her soul Rest in Peace,” he tweeted.
