The late Lucy Kibaki is considered the most controversial first ladies in the history of Kenya.
BBC records that Lucy caused a storm in the country when she said 'young men had no business of using condoms.’
She had organised the First International Aids Run in 2003 and asked youths to abstain from sex.
The wife to the retired President Mwai Kibaki never supported the idea of the use of condoms but wanted all young men and women to abstain until they get married to the love of their lives.
At the time of her death, leaders led by President Uhuru Kenyatta hailed her contribution towards curbing rising cases of HIV/Aids in the country.
She believed the best way to avoid getting infected was not engaging in sex at all. She never supported the narrative of condom use.
In a statement quoted by BBC, Uhuru said; "Her Excellency will be remembered for her immense contribution in the development of country."
Hate her or love her, Mrs Kibaki said what she thought was right.
She is remembered for crossing swords with journalists, policemen, politicians and diplomats.
The no-nonsense First Lady stood her ground even when she faced criticisms from different factions. She once forced Kibaki to declare that he only had one wife.
