Renowned Bongo megastar Harmonize recounted Thursday in an exclusive interview with Clouds Media how he received a call at night from President Magufuli over a song he did praising the Tanzanian head of state's development record.
The song, upon release, went viral on social media with Kenyans sharing it widely.
Hermonize, biorn Rajab Abdul, said that he had been lounging in bed when he received a call at 4 am.
When it became clear that it was the president of Tanzania who had called him, the musician's heart jumped a beat.
All sleep disappeared as he was jolted into a state of total alertness.
"Before that, I thank him, he called me at night. It was 4 am and I had just finished recording and was at home... I was there relaxing when the call came, I heard the voice and lost all sleep (Before that baada ya nyimbo kutoka namshukuru ashwai kunipigianga simu usiku. Ilikuwa mida ya saa kumi hivi nilikuwa nimemaliza kurekodi nilikuwa nimeenda nyumbani... So nimekaa naona simu inaita, nikaskia sauti kwanza nikashtuka, usingizi wote ukaisha, " Hermonize said. (16:53-17:15).
The Tanzanian artiste explained that President Magufuli had placed the call with the intention of expressing his gratitude for the 'Magufuli' hit song.
The head of state said the song would go along way in letting the people in remote areas of the country get a sense of his development record.
Magufuli went on to tell Hermonize that he loved the 'Matatizo' song, also done by the artiste, even more.
