Former presidential candidate Prof James Ole Kiyiapi has taken issue with former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto's exclusion from the list of speakers at his successor Joyce Laboso's funeral ceremony.
In a tweet on Sunday, the renowned scholar said that the move was in bad taste.
"Denying Isaac Ruto to give condolences to people of Bomet during Laboso's memorial service was in bad taste. It is not true that all those who spoke cared more for Bomet County than its first Governor!" Prof Ole Kiyiapi's tweet read.
Isaac Ruto was never given an opportunity to address mourners in spite of being physically present in his capacity as former Bomet governor, something that did not sit well with scores of Kenyans.
No reason was given by the event organisers as to why the Mashinani Party leader was left out of the program.
Isaac Ruto and Dr Joyce Laboso were strong political adversaries in the lead up to the 2017 Bomet gubernatorial contest.
Laboso went on to win with over 90,000 votes, making her the first female Bomet governor and ensuring that she was among the pioneering female governors in the country.
She lost her long battle with cancer last week after returning to the country from London and India where she had gone to seek treatment.
