President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday made another impromptu visit to lakeside city of Kisumu, it has emerged.
The head of state who has been very passionate about the city, on Tuesday visited the revamped Kisumu Port unannounced.
He inspected the ongoing works at the port, in the company of local leaders, in a visit which the media, however, was blocked from covering.
Similarly, entry into the port was restricted for the time he was there, with the police keeping eye on the facility, reports the Nation.
Uhuru also toured the Kenya Maritime Institute where MV Uhuru has docked, this not being the first time he makes similar unannounced tours.
Uhuru has been freely touring the port after his 2018 truce with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga, who enjoys massive support in the region.
The port remains yet to be launched officially, after earlier plans to have it launched in August apparently flopped.
The government had announced that the launch would be attended by several regional heads of state, which is also yet to happen.
The port is expected to enhance transport across the Lake Victoria, strengthening economies of regions surrounding the lake in the process.
