The two groups have been traversing the larger Gusii region ad the two protagonists stamp authority across the country ahead of 2022 showdown.

While Matiang'i is yet to make any formal declaration on presidency, Dr Ruto has made it clear that nothing will stop him from succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.

On Monday, Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama accused Dr Ruto of doing little to uplift the Abagusii community, adding that those supporting him should push for government appointments.

"I am disappointed with the Tangatanga troops. Let them first ask Ruto to appoint people from Gusii to government. It's unnecessary to support someone who has no plans to uplift us," he said.

Similar sentiments were made by Nyamira Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi who said Dr Matiang'i's appointment was critical to Abagusii.

"Our minister is doing pretty well and we should support him. Those of us on the other side should point to us what their boss has done to the community," she said at Kitutu Masaba on Tuesday.

But West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi on Tuesday accused Matiang'i of doing little to the community, adding that he should do more.

"So far he has done very little. He is yet to launch any major project in our region. Let him first initiate new projects. We are supporting Dr Ruto for his transformative leadership," he said.
