Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has taken a swipe at Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i following the arrest of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
The flamboyant city politician was dramatically arrested by a contingent of police in Voi on Friday, and airlifted to Nairobi to face corruption charges after DPP Noordin Haji issued an arrest order.
In a tweet, Barasa pointed an accusing finger at Matiang'i, who is in charge of the National Police Service (NPS), for allowing his officers to use 'force' in apprehending the governor, and warned him that he can be subjected to the same in the future.
"The force used by police in arresting Mike Sonko can be be used to arrest any other Kenyan including Fred Matiang'i in future. Power is temporal, rotational and not a respector of persons. Any villager can occupy such position. It's only a matter of when," Barasa said.
Matiang'i has been on the receiving end from allies of Deputy President William Ruto following his remarks that he, alongside his Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, were only answerable to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“We are public servants appointed by the President and everything that we do is a directive from the master,” he said recently during a function in Kirinyaga County.
“We only have one point of command in this country, and that is the President. Have you ever heard of a house with two masters? We are working for Uhuru and whatever he tells us to do with Kibicho, we will always do,” Matiang'i added.
