Defiant Kandara MP Alice Wahome has yet again insisted that she never provoked President Uhuru Kenyatta following her remarks last week.
In a scathing attack targeting Uhuru, Wahome challenged him to come out in public and denounce calls to have him stay in power.
A section of Uhuru's allies led by David Murathe have been pushing to have him stay in political scene after 2022.
On Sunday, Wahome dismissed her critics arguing that they are misguided given that she has a right to express herself.
"I have been threatened by some people because of my statements. Uhuru's term expires after serving this term, Kenyans have a right to choose anybody after 2022," she said.
"When I say so, there is nothing wrong because I have a right. I also have a right to say the economy is bad. I will not be cowed. I won't be intimidated, I will say the truth."
A host of leaders have accused Wahome of disrespecting President Uhuru Kenyatta, some demanding that she apologises.
“Wahome was one of the President Kenyatta’s staunch supporters who even physically fought to defend him. She shouldn't settle her personal scores in public,” the Uriri MP Mark Nyamita said.
