Renowned lawyer Nelson Havi has weighed in on the dual identification system employed by the Law Society of Kenya used to clear those eligible to vote in the society's elections.
Havi on Friday held the view that the futuristic identifying system that uses biometrics and photo identification should be employed in all future elections.
He contended that employing the system would help guarantee what he described as free and fair elections.
LSK is scheduled to hold its national elections on 27, February, 2020.
"LSK has biometric and photo identification, a confirmation that Advocates eligible to vote can be so identified. The dual identification system should be used on 27.2.2020 to guarantee an accountable, transparent and verifiable exercise: a free and fair election. ^DoS," the renowned lawyer wrote on Twitter.
Nelson Havi has been seeking to be the national chairman of the legal fraternity that champions for the interests of lawyers across the country.
His bid is yet to be successful.
He has long been a long critic of the LSK electoral system saying that it excludes suitable candidates from making it to the plum positions of the society.
In 2018, he went to court to seek the national LSK elections to be stopped but he lost his bid.
