Members of Kikuyu community living in Kibra on Tuesday were hosted by ODM leader Raila Odinga over the impending by-election.
Kibra residents will vote in a new MP on Thursday next week, almost three months after the death of Ken Okoth, the immediate former MP.
Mr Odinga, who has been monitoring the campaigns, received sections of Kikuyu community in Kibra where they vowed to support ODM candidate Imran Okoth.
"Spent part of the afternoon engaging with a delegation of representatives from the Kikuyu community who reside in Kibra. They expressed their confidence in and support for Benard Okoth Imran in the upcoming by-election on 7th November," he wrote.
Nominated MP Maina Kamanda was in charge of the delegation. The former Starehe MP rejected Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga, accusing DP William Ruto of using him to undermine handshake.
Mr Odinga has narrowed the polls strategically to certain communities in his bid to plot for a landslide victory for his ODM party. He's set to meet Luhya community this week.
“We have been doing door-to-door campaigns. Luo MPs have been meeting Luo voters. Luhya and Kisii MPs have been meeting their people too,” John Mbadi said.
The Jubilee team under the stewardship of DP William Ruto is also targeting Luhya votes for Mariga. Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa confirmed their planned meeting on Thursday.
"On Thursday we will hold a major meeting with Luhya people. There will be a huge declaration at Bhukhungu grounds," Barasa said.
The constituency has traditionally voted for ODM. Mr Odinga was the area MP for two decades when it was part of the larger Lang'ata constituency.
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Monday said 118,568 voters are eligible for the contest. Others in the race are Eliud Owalo and Ramadhan Khamisi.
