The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) sleuths have reiterated that the war against graft will continue.
The commission has confirmed recovering Sh3.1 billion worth of public assets between January and May 20.
Chief Executive Officer Twalib Mbarak has asked the leaders and the general public to support the commission in the war against graft.
The recovery of the property means that the commission has restored close to Sh10 billion the value of property in the last five years.
Mbarak has said that there is need for the members of the public to return the illegally acquired land. He said that the endless court cases have affected the war against graft.
He also warned land grabbers against encroaching public land without the knowledge of the public.
Mbarak, who replaced Halakhe Waqo, has affirmed that his office will not take chances when it comes to the fight against the vice.
“Since my taking over at EACC, I have been focusing on four things namely: high impact cases, systems review, asset recovery, and communication with the public towards rebuilding the commission’s image,” said Mr Mbarak, as quoted by Daily Nation.
Mbarak also said that the commission has plans to file more suits against suspected land grabbers.
He also urged leaders and members of the public to be ready to share information into the inquest in land grabbing cases.
He divulged that the commission will be targeting different regions including Mombasa, Kitengela, Nakuru, Kisumu and Nairobi.
