Children are a gift from God and you cannot demand a particular sex and at times the number we want. However, having a sister to your son or daughter is a magical parenting aid.

Here are three ways a sister affects a child's behaviour;

Mental health and unity

Sisters help other children have positive mental health. Research has also proven that family unity after the demise of parents is stronger if we have a sister in the family.

"What we know suggests that sisters play a role in promoting positive mental health and later in life, they often do more to keep families in contact with one another after the parents pass,” assistant professor in the School of Family Life at BYU Alex Jensen told Motherly.

Development of interpersonal skills

Your child’s sister is a key source of interpersonal skills teachings. She will make sure that her sibling understands how to deal with tense situations and general arguments. She serves as an example in nurturing others, development of empathy and conflict resolution. A sister also makes her siblings better communicators.

Inner balance and compassion

A sister's sibling is key when you want to have compassionate children. They will help them develop admirable behaviors such as compassion and altruism. Such personalities have inner peace.
