National Super Alliance (NASA) Chief Executive Officer Norman Magaya has defended Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua following online criticism.
In a tweet on Thursday, Magaya hailed the work done by the ambulances bought by Governor Mutua's administration, saying they have helped save lives in the county.
He urged those doubting the efficiency of the ambulances to visit remote areas in Machakos and testify.
"I can testify to the amazing work these ambulances have done. Many lives have been saved . Expectant mothers have been saved from the agony of delivering by the roadside . One needs to visit rural Machakos to appreciate this !" Magaya tweeted.
Mutua has made health one of his legacy pillars as the clock ticks down on his gubernatorial tenure.
His government procured 70 ambulances with the stated aim of making it easy for patients across the county to be reached.
Critics have claimed the ambulances were overpriced and were not doing the work for which they were procured.
He unveiled the Universal Health Care (UHC) program last year to great fanfare, saying that it would enable residents to access free health services.
