In what could be Raila Odinga's continued change of fortunes after his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta, foreign dignitaries are holding him special in their national interests.
After being hosted by Mr Odinga at Capitol Hill offices, newly appointed British High Commissioner Jane Marriott referred to Mr Odinga 'as His Excellency', an indication of the former PM's influence.
"Good discussions with H.E. @RailaOdinga this morning," wrote Ms Marriott, an experienced envoy formally representing UK in Somalia and Iraq.
His Excellency is a formal title of respect for males used when referring to heads of state, heads of government, governors, ambassadors, certain ecclesiastics, royalty, and others holding equivalent rank.
For years after assuming Prime Minister post, Raila has assumed 'Right Honourable' title since he's never served in the above capacities.
Ms Marriott replaced Nic Hailey, who was at loggerheads with Mr Odinga throughout 2017 elections. Mr Odinga had accused him of taking sides during polls.
During the Monday's meeting, the two discussed about constitutional reforms in Kenya, progress of Building Bridges Initiative and trade relations between Kenya and UK.
"H.E @RailaOdinga this morning held talks with British High Commissioner to Kenya @JaneMarriottFCO on the current debate on constitutional reforms, progress at the Building Bridges Initiative and trade relations between Kenya and U.K. in the context of WTO and EAC dynamics."
After his reconciliation with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Mr Odinga was appointed as African Union High Representative for Infrastructural Development boss.
