The former Subukia Member of Parliament says that the two of them have been together since before Museveni got into power.

In an interview on Saturday, the former political detainee revealed that they were brought together by their fight for democracy in Kenya and Uganda, hence their friendship.

"Museveni is my friend, we fought for democracy together (Museveni ni rafiki yangu, tulipigania demokrasia pamoja)," he said on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche show.

However, he said that he doesn't approve of Museveni's actions lately, with regards to his actions at the helm of the Ugandan government.

He expressed his dislike for Museveni's apparent unwillingness to exit power, observing that his appetite for power is getting out of hand.

"However, his appetite for the presidency has continued to grow (Lakini hamu yake ya urais ndio inaongezeka)," he added.

Unlike Museveni whose political star continues to shine, Wamwere has not been as lucky and has been in the political cold for years.

His attempts to bounce back through the Nakuru senatorial seat in the 2017 polls were futile, after losing out in the race for the Jubilee Party ticket.
