Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has hit out at deputy president Dr William Ruto for hosting Kibra residents at his official residence in Karen.
Speaking during a meeting to strategize on the ANC Kibra campaign, Mr Mudavadi expressed anger at the development, telling the deputy president that the Karen residence was not his private property but government property paid for by the taxpayers.
"I was abroad and I heard that people were being taken to Langata, to the official residence of the deputy president funded by the taxpayer. That is not his personal property, it has been built by your taxes."
(Mimi nilikuwa ngambo naskia oh watu wanafurushwa wanapelekwa huko Langata. Hiyo ni government resident ya deputy president. Nyumba imejengwa na ushuru wa mwananchi wa Kenya. Hiyo sio bama yake ya kibinafsi, imejengwa na ushuru wenu), " the former vice president said. (0:30-1:33)
The deputy president has been hosting groups of residents from Kibra constituency in a bid to drum up support for former Harambee Stars forward McDonald Mariga.
It is not clear what has informed the strategy of hosting residents in Karen instead of doing campaigns in Kibra.
Kibra is a turf of the Orange Democratic MOvement (ODM), having been represented for many years by former prime minister and ODM supremo Raila Odinga.
