Ruto has endorsed Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga in the race and has also lashed out at the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party which considers the seat its.

In an interview on Monday, the commentator said that the DP is using the campaigns in a bid to get himself closer to the Kibra residents ahead of the 2022 general polls.

"The campaign is to a large extent not about Mariga, Ruto is using this opportunity to reach out to Kibra residents on 2022 the issue (Hii kampeni sana sana sio ya Mariga, Ruto anatumia hii nafasi kufikia watu wa Kibra kwa mambo ya 2022)," he said on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha.

He noted that otherwise, the constituency is too small to capture so much attention from a man of the Deputy President's level.

"We have seen him there severally, but Kibra is too small for a Deputy President (Tumemwona sana pale, lakini Kibra ni ndogo sana kwa mtu kama DP)," he added.

The constituency has in the previous polls, both national and local, demonstrated to be a bedrock of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party and its leader Raila Odinga.
