Speaking on Thursday after holding a closed-door meeting with ODM leader Raila Odinga and other leaders from the Western region at the home of COTU boss Francis Atwoli, Oparanya said that all leaders from the four counties in Western Kenya will be involved.

The objectives of the meeting will be to unite the Western region ahead of the 2022 general elections and also to support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

"And we will have a big meeting, in Kakamega on the 18th of January which will involve all leaders from the four counties in the western region, because there are areas that we feel as leaders must be looked into," Oparanya stated in a video shared on YouTube.

The meeting will be dubbed as the Bukhungu 2 declaration which will be almost similar to the one that was held in Bukhungu Stadium on December 31 2016.

Oparanya also expressed his support for the creation of a powerful Prime Minister post with two deputies.

"The expanded executive, we feel it has not been given proper emphasis. We need a powerful Prime Minister plus two deputies," he noted.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi who was missing from the meeting has, on the other hand, declared his ambition for the presidential post in 2022.
