Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka was conspicuously missing in action in Kibra on the final day of campaigning for the constituency's by-election.
Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale, who also doubles up as the leader of the Majority in the National Assembly, took notice.
Speaking at DC in Kibra, the outspoken Garissa legislator called on the former Vice President to come out of hiding and join the ranks of progressive forces.
"And the honourable Kalonzo Musyoka... You Kalonzo, I am telling you, stop hiding. You were lied to by that man for many years. You should join forces with Kenyans (Na huyo mheshimiwa Kalonzo Musyoka... Wewe Kalonzo mimi nakwambia wewe usijifiche. Ulidanganywa na yule jamaa miaka mingi, wewe ushikane na Wakenya), " Duale said in a video shared on YouTube. (16:26:16:44)
It is not clear why the Wiper party leader decided to give the Kibra constituency by-election campaigns a wide berth.
Kalonzo Musyoka has, by and large, maintained a low profile for the duration of the campaigns in spite of both the Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford-Kenya parties claiming, at some point, that their candidates had the backing of the former VP.
Wiper Party did not front a candidate in the by-election but said it would field renowned Kenyan rapper Prezzo for the Kibra MP seat in 2022.
Some analysts have contended that the fact that all the NASA principals had fielded candidates except him, made it tricky for him to associate with one of the campaigns.
The best option was to play the spectator role in order to avoid antagonising any of the NASA co-principals.
