Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Chairman John Mbadi has poked holes in the alleged plot to impeach President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking during an interview with NTV on Tuesday, Mbadi said that he is aware that the allies of Deputy President William Ruto discussed how they were going to impeach the head of state when they met in Naivasha.
"First of all, let me make it clear that our statement was not on the impeachment of the President but touched on a number of issues and more importantly the genuineness with which this let me called it Tangatanga team are joining this BBI discussion," the MP said, in part of the interview shared on Twitter.
"But the issue of impeachment also came up but as you see where you gather as large members of parliament and you discuss and that something comes up, don't ever imagine that issue will get out even to an unintended ear. So we were informed that some of them were suggesting a way of blackmailing the President," he added.
The Suba South MP argued that the TangaTanga members do not have the requisite number to impeach the President.
He said that the idea of removing Uhuru from power is dead on arrival noting that the leaders cannot even impeach ODM leader Raila Odinga had he been in any position in government.
