Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has launched a scathing attack at Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho over Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report ahead of its release.
In a tweet responding to Joho's, Khalwale said that the initiative is not only illegal but also unconstitutional. The former lawmaker, who has pledged support for Deputy President William Ruto, said that BBI is doomed to fail.
He noted that the BBI report makes no sense when the government has not implemented several reports. He also said that there are many historical injustices yet to be resolved yet some leaders are rooting for BBI.
“BBI is illegal & unconstitutional, it can't be a substitute for. Upholding the constitution. Implementation of the reports of TJRC/NCIC/Commission of Inquiry into 2007 Post Election Violence/Ndung'u Land Commission. Independence of Judiciary & Police. Ending Impunity,” he said.
Joho had sid that BBI is one of the best ways to foster unity. He made the remarks after he held a meeting with his Taita Taveta County boss Granton Samboja. The governor is set to drum up support for BBI in the Coastal region.
"Building Bridges Initiative(BBI), is a way of fostering unity and achieving peace and cohesion in our country. I believe this noble initiative will be one of the surest ways of building a prosperous Kenya," Joho said.
