It was on the same day that the money was reported missing that the car was bought.

In a tweet giving an update on investigations into the theft, the DCI said that two suspects who have been arrested were planning to run away to neighbouring Uganda to enjoy their loot.

"Detectives investigating the matter have established-& the suspect confirmed that the Subaru Forester was bought on the same day of the Heist using the stolen Money. The two suspects were planning to travel to #Uganda with the Cash. They are in our custody awaiting arraignment," the DCI's tweet read.

Media reports that over 70 million had been stolen while in transit has gripped the public for days on end as law enforcement officers work towards unraveling the bank heist.

It had been reported that the cash was stolen by a trio who posed as police officers.

According to the DCI, two of the suspects in its custody are indeed officers with the constable rank.

The money was stolen at Standard Chartered Bank in Nairobi West just moments after the boxes bearing the cash were opened and a password for reloading cash had been sent from the bank's headquarters.
