Through Dr Joseph Birundu, Matiang'i called for speedy inquiry to the death, which has raised more questions than answers due to its nature.

At Nyakoe home on Sunday, Birundu, who lead a team of Gusii professionals, also conveyed condolences of Principal Secretary Susan Mochache.

"I spoke with the minister and he's deeply shocked with the death. He has called for speedy investigations so that we can know what exactly transpired," he said.

He added: "For now, we shall not get into details as professionals. We shall support the family all the time even as we mourn the death of one of us."

During 2017 Jubilee campaigns, Magara was one of top strategists for President Uhuru Kenyatta both in Kisii and Nyamira. Besides Matiang'i and Mochache, the team also comprised of Ken Ogeto and Kristina Pratt.

According to his wife, the two had checked in the hotel on Thursday. He showed signs of stress and was even subjected to medication. His body was found by the hotel staff.

“We checked in to the Hotel on Thursday evening, but on Friday my husband was exhibiting unusual behaviour.”

“He stepped out of the hotel at night but unsuccessfully attempted to start the car engine. He came to the room but unfortunately I didn’t get to notice the second time he left the room,” she said.

Magara was working as the Chief engineer at Fair Mount Hotels-Nanyuki.

He has been among the team of leaders working behind the scenes to popularise interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i across the two counties.
