According to Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha, parents in Nyanza had collected at least Sh200,000 which they were to use to bribe examination officers to have their students gain access to the exams.

“We are getting information that is not encouraging. Parents have still gone ahead and collected massive sums of money to buy exams… There are people who have identified supervisors whom they plan to pay Ksh.120,000; invigilators Ksh.60,000 and police Ksh.40,000,” he said as quoted by Citizen.

The CS has since sounded a warning that anyone who will be found compromising the process or cheating in the exams will be dealt with accordingly.

Magoha said that parents in Homa Bay, Migori and Kisii were set to bribe and convince exam supervisors, invigilators and police to have their students steal the exam.

He went further and urged all candidates across the nation that they should be swayed into exam cheating if they want to receive their results at the end of the whole process.

"Please do not get involved in it, otherwise you will not get your results,” said Magoha.

KCSE examination kicked off this Monday with a total of 699,745 candidates expected to take part in the national test.
