Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday met Health Cabinet Secretary Ms Sicily Kariuki during the memorial service of the late Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore at the All Saints Cathedral.
The photo of the two leaders shaking hands elicited mixed reactions on social media. The incident comes at a time when the office of the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is probing Kariuki and her three counterparts over the alleged plot to eliminate the second in command.
The three others are Joe Mucheru (ICT) and Peter Munya (Industry, Trade, and Cooperatives) and Transport CS James Macharia.
The probe into the matter took a new twist after detectives arrested State House Digital Director Denis Itumbi over an alleged fake assassination letter.
Itumbi on Thursday asked the court to allow him to play a video of the alleged meeting of the Cabinet Secretaries plotting Ruto's assassination, but the court declined his request.
The leaders allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga has since asked DP Ruto to resign following the allegations over the plot to eliminate him.
Ruto is yet to record a statement on the alleged assassination plot. He has insisted that he can only record a statement with the DCI George Kinoti in person and not his junior officers.
Ruto's allies have been calling for speedy probe into the claims.
