Being the eldest child in your family has its upsides and downsides.
Here are some of the struggles only firstborns can understand.
1. Always blamed for siblings' mistakes
A firstborn acts as the deputy parent and is expected to keep watch of his/her siblings. Sometimes they get blamed and punished for not correcting their siblings when they do something wrong.
2. Being a role model and pressure to succeed
Pressure is usually mounted on the firstborns to set a high bar for their siblings. This makes them do their level best so that the other siblings can emulate them.
3. Firstborns babysit their siblings
Whether a firstborn likes it or not, they will be expected to babysit their younger siblings especially when their parents are away. Firstborns can relate to the wrath they usually received when their parents found them playing instead of looking after their siblings.
4. Making the right decisions
Firstborns are expected to learn and figure out situations on their own compared to other siblings. The first child is usually expected to make the right decisions even when faced with challenging situations.
