Police in Nyamira on Saturday arrested a Jubilee legislator for allegedly defiling a student for over three days in one of entertainment joints in the county.
Magwagwa MCA Fred Omayio alias Chinese Bamboo is now being held in one of police stations within Nyamira as police intensified investigations.
County Commissioner Amos Mariba confirmed the arrest, adding that the Kisumu Girls Form 4 student had been missing since September 2nd.
The security boss said police intervened when one of the girl's parent, Hellen Kwamboka, reported the matter at Ekerenyo Police Station.
"Her mother reported the incident at Ekerenyo Police Station and we have been searching for the girl. We established that she was locked at a lodging in Nyamira.
"Police have since arrested the MCA and he's aiding us with information. He will be charged with defilement once we conclude investigations," he said.
Preliminary medical report shows that the girl was indeed defiled but the sleuths may now be forced to use DNA to establish if it's the MCA who was responsible.
The case has caused uproar in Nyamira, with youth leader Patrick Matoke threatening to file a petition against the MCA for his removal. He's serving second term.
"His conduct and integrity is questionable. He is fond of hoodwinking young girls. I will file a petition for his removal," said a furious Matoke.
Early this year, Mr Omayio was also arrested in Kisumu, where he was accused of breaking properties of a high end hotel where Nyamira MCAs were having a seminar.
Sources close to him intimate that he's preparing to go for North Mugirango parliamentary seat, which is currently occupied by Joash Nyamoko, a former assembly speaker.
