The Orange Democratic Party(ODM) has relayed a stern warning to candidates eyeing to be nominated to fly the party flag in the coming Kibra by-election.
The Raila Odinga-led party through Twitter warned that any candidate who will go against the rules of nominations and engage in electoral malpractices will be disqualified right away.
The party warned aspirants against causing violence among Kibra residents who are known to be rowdy will be denied the opportunity to participate in the party primaries ahead of the by-election.
"A candidate who will go against the rules of nomination and engage in electoral malpractices including causing violence and disturbance will automatically be disqualified and further punitive measures taken against him as prescribed in the rules of the nomination," ODM Party tweeted on Thursday.
The party is set to hold the nomination exercise on Saturday 7 after claims emerged that they are facing challenges to nominate a candidate to represent them. They had made it clear that only registered members are eligible to participate in the process.
The seat was declared vacant following MP Ken Okoth's death in July. The by-election which is slated for November 7 is highly contested considering the magnitude of party primaries.
