Kisumu leaders and Nyakach residents have lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta for the appointment of their former MP Peter Odoyo as the Chief Administrative Secretary for Defence.
Led by South West Nyakach Ward Representative Gad Olima, the residents say the appointment was timely.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday in Kisumu, Olima noted that the appointment of Odoyo is the first under handshake that happened between Uhuru and Raila.
Olima who is the Kisumu County Assembly Chief Whip says Raila Odinga has played a major role in Odoyo's appointment.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga for appointing Peter Odoyo as the assistant minister for defense. We have worked with him and we are sure he will deliver,” said Olima.
Olima opined that Odoyo’s achievements in the positions he has held in the past are a testimony that he is worth being appointed to a State job.
He says that ODM party has now been rewarded and asked the party supporters to stand with Odoyo in his new appointment.
“As the ODM party members we are grateful as Peter Odoyo is the first ODM member to land a job in the handshake government. I want to ask all our members to support the former MP since he's also one of the strongest pillars in ODM,” he added.
In a statement, Odoyo thanked President Kenyatta and Raila for the appointment. Odoyo pledged to work for Kenyans and deliver.
