8 candidates have been selected for the position of the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the University of Nairobi (UoN).
After releasing the names of the 8 candidates, the Public Service Commission (PSC) has called on Kenyans to give any useful information concerning the 8 that will help in choosing a suitable one.
"Members of the public are invited to avail in writing any credible information of interest on any of the shortlisted candidates. Submissions may be emailed to uon2019@publicservice.go.ke. Manual submissions may be posted to The CEO/Secretary P.O. Box 30095-00100 NAIROBI," said the Public Service Commission as quoted by Standard Media.
The interviews for the VC position have been slated for 18 December 2019.
Currently, the university is run by an acting VC, Prof. Isaac Mbeche, who is also among the 8 candidates selected for the job.
Other candidates include; Prof. Solomon Igosangwa Shibairo, Prof. Stephen Kiama Gitahi, Prof. Patricia G. Kameri Mbote, Prof. Kareithi Ruth Wanjiru Nduati, Prof. Eng. Bernard N. Kimani Njoroge, Prof. Elijah I. Omwenga and Prof. Madara Ogot.
The university is looking for former VC Prof Peter Mbithi's replacement after his four years term came to an end.
Mbithi had applied to renew his position at the VC, but PSC turned it down.
Mbithi has been accused of bad leadership while at the helm of UoN.
