Speaking on a pre-recorded interview on the 'Pointblank' program aired on the Standard Media Group-owned Kenya Television Network (KTN) Wednesday night, the renowned lawyer accused NASA parties of insincerity.

By fielding candidates against ODM, Sifuna contended that the Musalia Mudavadi-led Amani National Congress (ANC) and Moses Wetangula-led Ford-Ford-Kenya parties had proved that they were "leeches."

"We have always known ANC and Ford Kenya to be our enemies. They are leeches, parasites and we have carried them on our backs like ticks all this time," Edwin Sifuna said.

NASA has been ravaged by widening cracks following the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Affiliate parties of the coalition have accused Mr Odinga of betrayal.

Raila reportedly reached a ceasefire with his erstwhile political adversary Uhuru Kenyatta without informing Mudavadi and Wetangula.

The divisions worsened after Bungoma senator Moses Wetagula was ousted as Senate minority leader in what he described as an ODM-sponsored conspiracy to strip him of plum the minority leader position.

Speculation is rife that the alliance  will not survive the next general election.
