Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has noted that he was ready to take at least thirty youths head-on during the chaotic Kibra by-election on Thursday.
Dr Khalwale was photographed carrying stones while trying to keep at bay a group of youths who were allegedly harassing voters during the polls.
On Sunday, Khalwale, who also served as Ikolomani MP, said that he was confident that he would handle the rowdy youths like a 'bullfighter'.
The former legislator was among several agents of former footballer McDonald Mariga, who emerged second during the Kibra by-election.
"I waited for them, then about 30 youths came carrying stones. I was confident and I wanted to face them like a man and a bullfighter from Ikolomani," Khalwale said.
"Why is it that when these goons were causing chaos nobody took action? I was left to fight for my life as police officers watched," he added.
Dr Khalwale has been subjected to condemnation from a section of ODM leaders who accuse him of engaging in violence during the Kibra polls.
ODM leader Raila Odinga on Sunday chided Khalwale, portraying him as a newcomer to Nairobi politics. Mr Odinga termed Khalwale's conduct as satanic.
"He (Ruto) brought some people from Ikolomani. Colonialists used to call the region gold mine. They reached here and started thinking that they can get gold from stones. Shame on them," he said in reference to Khalwale.
The ODM party on Sunday refused to apologise for Kibra violence, accusing DP William Ruto of allegedly inciting locals through voter bribery.
