Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has hailed opposition leader Raila Odinga as the politician ever produced in the history of Kenya, putting into perspective his ways of operation.
Mr Odinga has been in politics for over four decades, serving most of the years either in prison or an opposition leader. He has also served as minister in government.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, the second term ODM governor, said Mr Odinga is the most misunderstood public figure, arguing that it's difficult to understand how he operates.
"H.E Raila Odinga is the most intriguing and misunderstood public figure in the Kenyan history, those who love , love him to the later and those who hate him do so on their volition.
"Rarely do people hit this trifecta. But Raila Odinga is one of the chosen few for which all three nuggets of wisdom are true. When Raila Odinga plans, his opponents think he’s plotting. When he’s sleeping, his detractors think he’s awake," said Ojaamong.
According to Ojaamong, Mr Odinga at times confuses his enemies and at the same time entices his friends. He lauded him as a man of great humility.
In 90s, Ojaamong, who was married from the Oginga family, served as Raila's personal assistant. In 2017, Mr Odinga had difficulties in choosing between Ojaamong and Paul Otuoma.
"He confuses his foes and unintentionally entices his friends. That’s because of his humility. Men with such commanding social and political capital can wield it with whim.
"Raila Odinga remains the centre of gravity of Kenya’s politics. Raila Odinga bestrides Kenya’s political landscape like a colossus, his person and persona are public institutions. Long live my political mentor, father of the Nation," he said.
Since last year, Ojaamong, who has been gravitating towards Tanga Tanga team, which is associated with DP William Ruto, has been under EACC surveillance over alleged corruption in Busia.
