Moiben Member of Parliament Silas Tiren has openly declared support for Kenya African National Union (KANU) party leader Gideon Moi.
The lawmaker who was elected in 2017 on the ruling Jubilee Party ticket is among Rift Valley leaders who are considered rebels, thanks to their opposition to Deputy President William Ruto.
According to Citizen Digital, Tiren who was speaking during a peace rally in Tiaty on Tuesday declared his backing for the Baringo Senator who is also considered Ruto's leading rival in his Rift Valley bedrock.
The MP also questioned Ruto's integrity on grounds that he has been mentioned in numerous corruption scandals.
He also stated that Ruto is on the negative side of leadership, remarks that were echoed by area MP William Kamket who also predicted Moi's presidency after Uhuru Kenyatta.
Kamket who is Moi's close ally said that area leaders will back him to ensure that he leads the nation.
"As a community, we will back him up,” said Kamket as quoted by Citizen Digital, remarks that were, however, dismissed by Baringo North MP William Cheptumo who argued that Ruto is Uhuru's best successor.
Moi is, however, yet to make any presidential declarations, a position that was held by his father Daniel Moi for 24 years until his retirement in 2003.
