Renowned academic and socio-political commentator Prof. Edward Kisiangani has weighed in on claims that Gatundu South member of parliament was harassed for not standing for Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.
In a tweet on Sunday, the Kenyatta University don said that if the claims were true then they were an indication that the country had embarked on a tragic path.
Prof. KIsiangani held the view that the only people that the legislator should stand for are President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy Dr William Ruto.
"If it is true that some ODM MCA harassed Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria for not standing up to honour Raila when the former PM arrived for the BBI rally in Mombasa then our country has taken a tragic path! Kuria should only stand for our President n his Deputy. Nobody else!" Prof. Kisiangani wrote on Sunday.
The Gatundu South MP claimed on Sunday that his seat was taken away from him because he refused to stand for the former prime minister during the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting that was held at the Mama Ngina Waterfront.
Kuria said that the incident was proof enough that there was a plan to force Raila Odinga as a presidential candidate on the Kenyan people.
