Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo now claims that his new parliamentarian job has rendered him money less and broke.
This comes amid a new push by Members of Parliament to be allocated thousands of shillings in night allowances, which has been met with full opposition from Kenyans.
Speaking on Tuesday, the opposition lawmaker claimed that though he has been holding public offices for long, he has not been as broke as he is currently, apparently in support of the new bid.
"I have been the ombudsman and I have been in public practice, I have never been broke like I am now as an MP," he said on NTV's AM Live show on Tuesday morning.
However, on his part, former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, said that the entire issue is to blame on the MPs, saying that their demands are pegged on poor mentalities
He observed that most expect a sudden elevation of lifestyle once they come to power, hence their demands for more money to fit in the lifestyle they think they deserve.
"MPs have a celebrity mentality, instead of socialising in their regular joints they start going to 5 star restaurants," he said.
The MPs were also on fire months back when they allocated themselves Sh250, 000 monthly house allowances.
