Cancer is ravaging Kenya. This monster does not care how old you are and what gender you belong to.
It doesn't care how much money you have neither does it care how rich you are. It consumes people mercilessly and this happens to be its pride.
As a Kenyan who would wish to live a cancer-free life, observe these 5 general lifestyle tips that will reduce your risks of developing any type of cancer;
1. Be physically active for at least 30 minutes every day
Exercise happens to be the number one preventive measure against all diseases and health conditions. To lower your risks of developing any type of cancer, spend at least 30 minutes of your day doing some exercise or work out. Just ensure your body is active.
2. Avoid too much red meat and processed meats
We can't stop eating red meat (beef, pork, mutton) but we can limit how much we take. Red and processed meats increase one's risks of developing cancer of any type. Try as much as you can to eat plant foods like vegetables and cereals more often because they are safer.
3. Maintain an ideal body weight
The more the fat you have in your body, the higher your risks of developing cancer of any type but especially colon cancer and prostate cancer in men. But cancers of the uterus, gallbladder, kidney, stomach and breast have also been associated with obesity.
4. If you smoke, STOP
When it comes to smoking and cancer, they are like tea and bread; they go together. For this case you don't have to limit, you just have to STOP. If you are around someone who smokes, getaway because you won't be different from them. Tobacco can cause all cancers but especially that of the lungs and liver. Alcohol is the same. STOP!
5. Take maximum care at your place of work
Manufacturing and chemical plants are areas where you could develop any type of cancer very easily. Such areas are full of cancer-causing substances including radiations. If you work in any manufacturing company, always have your protective gear on.
