Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i has lashed out at a group allied to Deputy President William Ruto, accusing it of peddling propaganda at the expense of unsuspecting Kenyans.
In a scathing attack targeting Tanga Tanga brigade, Dr Matiang'i insisted that the team cannot manage to come to Gusii and 'lie to people' for political gains.
The powerful interior minister insisted that the Abagusii people are not 'fools' to be taken for a ride in the quest for State House competition.
Abagusii, Matiang'i added, will make informed decisions when the right time comes and will not bank on those who lie to them for short term gains.
"If you think you can come here and lie to my people, just forget. This is the kind of mediocrity they have capitalised on for short term political gains.
"Our people are not fools. Are you really fools as they think? Don't allow them to take us for a ride. I have never held a closed-door meeting with the DP," he argued.
The CS was responding to Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, who had claimed that at one point, the CS was rescued by Tanga Tanga team in parliament following impeachment threats.
Dr Matiang'i assured Gusii leaders that he's ready to work with them, adding that he has no problem rolling out development to all regions without discrimination.
"I have listened to all leaders and I agree that we have to forge the unity of development. This is what we ought to do. I will work with everyone to realise this."
Dr Matiang'i was speaking on Sunday at Kerumbe during the burial of billionaire entrepreneur Stephen Mogeni, a relative to Senator Okong'o Mogeni.
Others present were Governors John Nyagarama and James Ongwae, Senator Sam Ongeri, several MPs and the county assembly leadership under Moffat Teya.
ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire asked Gusii leaders to unite, adding that the unity has been a pipe dream due to chest thumping from a section of leaders.
"We must get together and work for our people. The reason why we are not united is because of few people who chest thump a lot for no good reason," he said.
