Eldoret politician cum businessman David Letting alias Kokwas and four others were on Wednesday released by an Eldoret court after pleading not guilty of the charges levelled against them.
Kokwas unsuccessfully vied for the Kipkaren MCA seat in 2017 on a Jubilee ticket and was defeated by the incumbent Hillary Ronoh.
The five appearing before Eldoret Principal Magistrate Naomi Wairimu, Brinan Kiprotich Lagat, Denis Baraza, Patrick Lagat, Cornelius and David Kimeli Letting pleaded not guilty for the charges of creating a disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.
Principal Magistrate Wairimu ordered the release of the five suspects on a cash bail of Sh10,000 each.
Brinan Kiprotich Lagat alias Ndume who was also charged with other two counts of malicious damage of property and going armed in public was released on Sh200,000 bond and Sh100,000 cash bail.
The hearing of the case is scheduled for 23rd January 2020 at the Eldoret Law Court 4 from 9:00 am.
The five were arrested on Sunday after residents stormed Yamumbi police post to demand for the arrest of members of a dreaded gang which they said has been terrorizing them for quite some time.
They said they are now walking in fear forced to reach their residence before 7:00 pm fearing for their lives.
