Renowned scholar and former presidential candidate Prof James Ole Kiyiapi has weighed in on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) ahead of its release on Tuesday.

Kiyiapi explained the options which he said Kenyan politicians have on the initiative.

"Politicians have two options on BBI. They can carry the people along and build consensus on the way forward driven by a patriotic intent or we fight it out at a referendum. Spinning it to suit a certain political direction will not work. Let us READ, stop presence and take sides," Kiyiapi tweeted.

The BBI committee announced that it had finalised the report and was ready to hand it over to President Uhuru.

Already, the committee members have secured an appointment with the head of state on Tuesday next week when they are expected to hand over their report.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga is also expected to be present when the report, that has been subject to speculation, is formally handed over.

President Uhuru has appealed to Kenyans to read the report with an open mind and not to be quick to trash it without reading it first.
