President Uhuru Kenyatta has been asked to retire from politics after completing his second term in office.
In a video shared by Standard on Sunday, Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga is heard saying that he could not imagine that one day the head of state will want to come back to serve Kenyans as a Prime Minister.
The lawmaker said that the commander-in-chief needs to accomplish his mission and leave another leader to take over the office.
He alluded that President Uhuru would have betrayed the trust of Kenyans if he remains in power after the end of his tenure.
“I refuse to imagine that President Uhuru Kenyatta you can sit somewhere and plan to extend your term. I refuse to believe that you can sit somewhere and plan to come back as a comeback as Prime Minister I Mabonga I refuse to imagine. I want to believe that you will be a gentleman enough when your time comes to exit the scene, you will leave the scene by 2022,” he said in part.
The president had earlier on hinted that he is ready to assume the position of the Prime Minister if he is given a chance to do so. He also said that he is ready to support anyone if Kenyans would say so.
The launch of the BBI has opened a political battle among leaders from different quarters.
