Tongaren Member of Parliament Eseli Simiyu has faulted leaders who are focusing too much on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), instead of issues affecting Kenyans.
In an interview with NTV on Tuesday, Eseli said issues such as locust invasion and graft need to be addressed with immediate effect.
He noted that the BBI report has diverted the mindset of leaders in different camps, to the point that they do not focus on issues that matter to tax payers.
"We are losing sight of what really ails Kenya. We are not talking about graft or the locust invasion which is now a serious issue. Our minds have been diverted," he said.
He reminded leaders that the BBI report should be about the welfare of Kenyans, and not for individual political gain.
"We need to realise that if we are doing this indeed for Kenyans and this is for both sides. We need to put Kenyans in front rather than individuals because whether they deny it or not, they have a focus on 2022... I said this sometime back when two elephants fight, the grass suffers but also when they make love, the grass also suffers," he said in part.
