Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga should not be spared from criticism over bad state of affairs in the country, political analyst Prof Edward Kisiang'ani has said.

Kisiang'ani claimed the ODM leader has been part of the government and should be blamed, alongside Jubilee party leadership, for what he termed as mismanagement of the country.

In a post on social media, the history and political science lecturer said Raila 'joined' the government through his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta on March 9, 2018.

"I think human nature is very funny. How can anybody blame Jubilee for mismanaging the country without sparing the same anger for Raila? Raila has been part of government and Jubilee since March 2018. In 2022, we shall look at Raila's track record in the Jubilee government," he said.

Kisiang'ani argued that had the ODM boss not joined the Jubilee administration, he could have been at the forefront taking the government to account for its actions, as he was doing before the last polls.

"Before 2017 the ODM leaders let by Raila were harsh critics of the Jubilee government, its leadership and policies. Now the entire leadership and support base of ODM led by Raila support Uhuru's Jubilee leadership and his party policies as well. What changed? ODM is Jubilee and Jubilee is ODM!" he posted.

Even though the former prime minister has said severally that he is not in government, it is not lost on Kenyans that he has been receiving regular briefings from Cabinet Secretaries, as well as being accorded VVIP treatment by state agencies.
