Analyst alleges Raila's closeness to Uhuru is betrayal to Kenyans
Political analyst Dennis Anyonka has accused ODM leader Raila Odinga of betraying Kenyans by abandoning them in their hour of need.
Speaking on Tuesday, he based his argument on Raila's silence on national matters, at a time when he seems to have joined the government and shelved his initial opposition ideologies.
Anyonka says that Raila had painted himself in such a way that Kenyans depended on him to keep the government in check and alert them of the government's bad deeds.
Therefore, he observed that Raila is actually closeness to President Uhuru Kenyatta amounts to a betrayal of the people looking up to him to protect them from him (Uhuru).
"We don't have an opposition leader and that's not his responsibility but Kenyans trust him basing on his political level. So according to me, that's betrayal (Hatuna leader of opposition na sio kazi yake lakini wakenya wanawamini kulingana na level yake ya kisiasa so kwangu that's a betrayal )," he said.
He made the remarks on Radio Maisha, Tuesday morning.
At the same time, he noted that Raila cannot be criticised for this noting that he was never elected by anyone to the opposition, and has only been doing it out of will.
He stated that Kenyans have repeatedly abandoned him during presidential polls, which justifies his actions.
"You can't blame him kwa sababu ameomba kura ya urais na hajapata (because he has requested for the presidency in futility)," he added.
Lately, Raila and his team of allies have been seen endorsing Uhuru's moves, a year and months after their 2018 handshake.
