National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale has dismissed claims that the relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto is broken beyond repair.
The ruling party has been in a state of never-ending wrangles pitting the pro-Uhuru camp on one side and the other allied to Dr Ruto.
However, according to Duale, a key Ruto associate, claims of a frosty relationship between the President and DP Ruto are far-fetched.
"The President and the DP have very long political relationship, going back to their KANU days. Despite the political musical chairs that are very common during the transition period, like now, the relationship between our leaders, speaking as an insider, is stronger than ever before," Duale told the Sunday Nation.
While accusing some "elements" within government for sowing discord and trying to manage succession, the Garissa Township MP said that their actions will never succeed even as he asked them to read history.
The tensions within Jubilee party played out during the Kibra constituency by-election which saw some members of the ruling party publicly compaign for the ODM candidate Imran Okoth, who went on to win the seat by garnering over 23,000 votes.
