Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili has rubbished claims that he was summoned by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) over alleged inflammatory remarks he made in Kibra.
The MP popularly known as Babu Owino quashed the reports that the DPP Noordin Haji has asked him top record a statement with NCIC stating that he has not received any official communication by NCIC or DPP to record a statement on this.
"I wish to state that I am yet to be served with any such document," he said on Thursday adding that "If indeed it is true that the ODPP has written this letter then as a lawyer and as a lawmaker, I would wish to remind him that the NCIC is an independent statutory body established under the National Cohesion and Integration Act No.12 of 2008 and does not take directions from any individual or office."
He asked the DPP to stop issuing "reckless and illegal orders" maintaining that he will only present himself before the commission once he receives official communication from NCIC.
The legislator is accused of issuing inciting statements in regard to the Kibra race where ODM has fronted Imran Okoth. Jubilee Party, on the other hand, has fronted McDonald Mariga.
