Matiang'i uttered these words after meeting with new appointees of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) in Nairobi. He also promised the new commissioners of support from the ministry. Matiang'i emphasized the need to embrace diversity and differences in opinions.

"We have to learn to tolerate each other there is never going to be a time in this country that we will all sing one song, face one direction and behave the same way, God created us differently and we should enjoy each other’s company and appreciate that we have different opinions and that should never be a course for incitement,” he stated during a media briefing on Wednesday as quoted in capital FM news.

Matiang'i praised the work done by the old commission and also urged the new commission to maintain the spirit in order to build the institutional culture.

The NCIC said that the commission will work hard in order to promote national ethos and cohesion.

Kobia also confirmed that the new commissioners will work on their toes to initiate activities that will motivate Kenyans to achieve the fruitful work.

"The issues of cohesion and integration touch every facet of Kenyan lives; from family, development, the economy and progress and as a commission we wish to assure Kenyans that we shall endeavour to cohere the diverse identities in Kenya into a rainbow of one people, one nation and one destiny,” he said.

The commission takes over from the previous team that was led by former National Assembly Speaker Francis Ole Kaparo.

Kaparo and the team have been at the docket since 2014 and their time expired last year but President Uhuru Kenyatta in a gazette notice extended their term by a year.
