There was drama in Getenga village, Bosaga in South Mugiriango, Kisii County when angry residents forcibly evicted a woman in her early 50s from her matrimonial home over drunkenness.
Samuel Maangu protested that Celestine Oganyo, a widow has been drinking excessively for the last two years.
"We cannot continue living with her in the village because on several occasions she has been striping naked in broad daylight under the influence of alcohol. Efforts by elders and church members to have her stop her drinking habits have not yielded fruits. As villagers we resolved to kick her out of the village until she stops drinking alcohol," said Maangu as reported by Egesa FM.
Maangu noted that the woman has been living alone since her son and two daughters are working in Nairobi.
A local assistant chief Evans Birundu said the decision by villagers to evict the woman came after she was found naked and drunk by the roadside on Wednesday evening.
"She has failed to listen to my warnings. Villagers evicted her due to lack of respect. Anyone consuming alcohol should not take advantage of drunkenness to show her or his nudity," said the chief.
He said the woman can be allowed to the village if she stops consuming alcohol.
