Kipchoge is will strive to run 42km in under two hours.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret town on Thursday, Chemno said they are in full support of Kipchoge and that they are confident he will make it.
“In support, we will join the world in witnessing the historic event of INEOS 1:59 challenge by one of our own, Eliud Kipchoge the Uasin Gishu way at our LED big screen in the City of Champions,” said Chemno
The race is scheduled for October 12 in Vienna, Austria at 7:45 am where Kipchoge will try to break the two-hour marathon barrier to beat his record set in last year’s Berlin Marathon.
“I want to urge residents to come in large numbers at the LED big screen as Kipcgoge makes history. As the city of champions, we wish him all the best,” added Chemno.
He, however, said in honour of Eliud Kipchoge, the national government should complete the Kipchoge Keino stadium since it’s a training ground for athletes.
Chemno reiterated that despite money being set aside for the stadium, work has stalled for over two years.
