Billionaire businessman Chris Kirubi has urged Kenyans to execute their financial obligations prudently and ensure they start the New Year without being in debt.
In a tweet on Sunday, Kirubi noted that it was necessary for every single Kenyan to prepare their budget in advance and shun away from spending beyond their means.
He described starting the New Year indebted due to poor planning as the worst mistake one can make.
"The worst mistake you can make is beginning the New Year in debt. If you prepare your budget well in advance and stick to it then you should have no problem. Use what you have and do not spend beyond your limit,” Chris Kirubi's tweet read.
Recently, the billionaire warned Kenyan against being carried away by the Christmas mood that over the years has left Kenyans bankrupt due to expensive group and family parties.
He observed that the festive season had lost its meaning as many people are drugged into heavy drinking and eating.
”Don't be pressurized. It is unfortunate during Holiday Season most of us are ‘pressured’ to attend events, travel or hang out with friends. While it's good to socialize & have a good time, we forget these plans may injure our pockets. Keep them few & don't overindulge,” he tweeted last on December 23rd.
A study conducted recently revealed a majority of Kenya's population frequently and heavily borrow from digital lending platforms.
